Vince Renda
Lead Instructor
My interest in firearms started when I was 14-years old and my friends father let me shoot his shotgun. It was love at first trigger squeeze. Right from the beginning, I felt I wanted to learn everything and anything about the shooting sports. I went to school the next day and joined Air Force JRROTC. Which I won "Cadet of the Year". At 17 I joined the U.S. Army while still in high school and went to basic training for my 11th grade summer vacation. In the Army I qualified as an Expert Marksmen in Rifle, M-203 Grenade Launcher and other weapons qualification. Later during Desert Shield and Desert Storm the U.S. Army increased the intensity of our training and proficiency in tactical defense to refelect "real world".
Since leaving the Army I found myself attending many different schools and trainings. I went to training facilities around the midwest and took classes in tactical defense, firearms, and survival. All of the training and experience that I received from those classes has been boiled down and separated into what I offer in the classes I teach.
With the changes we seen in the last several years I have condition myself through training to have a different mindset about self / family defense. Many of my friend have noticed this and would ask me "What kind of gun should I get?" and "Can you teach me about firearms and how to shoot?" or "Can you help me with my emergency plan for my family?". It did not take long to figure out that if I was going to train that I need to be certified. That is when I decided to become a NRA Certified Instructor.
If I can give you just one piece of advice it would be whether you train with Family Tactical Training or someone else get trained, get your family trained and continue to train as long as you are going to own a firearm. I seek training all of the time and attend a basic firearm training class every year to ensure I don't lose the fundamentals of shooting. Also join the NRA.
Qualifications & Training: U.S Army, U.S. Army SERE School (Survive, Evade, Resist, Escape), NRA Instructor, NRA Chief Range Safety Officer, NRA Home Firearm Safety Instructor, NRA Personal Protection In The Home Instructor, NRA Basic Pistol Instructor, NRA First Steps Instructor, Defensive Firearm 1 - Mastering Marksmanship Fundamentals, Defensive Firearm 2 - Barricade & Relative Position Shooting, Defensive Firearm 3 - Move and Shoot, Defensive Firearm 4 - Low Light, Defensive Firearm 5 - Spontaneous Assault

Brad Hamilton
Range Safety Officer
Soldiers like to joke and say that they were born with a gun in their hand(s). In my case , that is pretty true! Growing up, my father was a gun collector and avid shooter. He was a lifelong member of the NRA and SASS (single action shooters society). So in turn, I was too! From an extremely early age I was introduced to the world of weapons and shooting. Our collection was (is) very diverse. We had (have) everything from knives and swords, to BB guns and blowguns, to sniper rifles and shotguns! He was adamant that I was proficient with each weapon. Much of my childhood was spent at the range. Then of course we have to break down and clean every weapon...
After high school I joined the United States Army, where I excelled and was put on the "fast track" program. I was given the position of platoon guide, given a pay grade promotion, and earned the "soldier leader of the cycle" award all in basic training. During my enlistment, I was able to be involved with some really intense training: Airborne, Air Assault, Sniper, Demolitions, and Ranger school. I also qualified expert in pistol, rifle, grenade, and mortar while enlisted.
Since leaving the Army I have increased my personal collection of firearms dramatically, and kept up with my training. My training these days is a little different than my training in the Army. I train for real life scenarios: home invasions, personal protection, work place violence or break ins, etc. After being introduced to Vince through Carl's Body Shop, I signed up for his Concealed Carry class right away. Shortly after taking his class, Vince approached me and paid me a great compliment on my shooting abilities and training. He asked if I would be interested in becoming an instructor and helping him out in class. Of course I jumped at the opportunity to work with my friend while doing something that I love. I took my NRA Range Safety Officer course and in a few months will become a certified NRA instructor.
